Rahmat completed his undergraduate education at the Bogor Institute of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology at the end of 1989 with the thesis title “Decision Support Systems for Tea Industry Production Planning”. Rahmat then pursued Master degree in the Special Risk Management Program from the University of Indonesia Master of Management (MMUI) which was completed in 2008 with the thesis title “Modeling Risk of Stock Portfolios on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with Expected Tail Loss”. He took doctoral studies at IPB Business School and successfully defended his dissertation entitled “Analysis of the Indonesian Banking Efficiency Strategy in Facing the ASEAN Economic Community”.
He started his career in the banking and financial sector, especially Islamic finance. First joined BPR Wakalumi then became director (sole) of BPR Amal Salman (BPRS Al Salaam) when it was first established in 1992. He had joined the Bank Muamalat before becoming General Manager and Researcher at the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) until 2006. In 2006, Rahmat initiating a consulting company, PT Score Consulting Indonesia, then in 2008 joined the LKBN Antara as Finance Director until November 2012. In his duties as Finance Director, among others, he played a role in converting Antara from a State Institution to a BUMN and get a WTP (unqualified) opinion in the third year. Since January 2013, he joined the Tazkia Institute as a lecturer and is currently the Head of the Sharia Economics Masters Study Program and is also active as a financial and business consultant as a Senior Partner at PT Strategic Actions Indonesia until now.
Rahmat likes knowledge sharing activities both in the form of teaching in the classroom and in executive training forums. He has taught Behavioral Finance courses at Binus Graduate Business School, Entrepreneurial Finance courses at Multimedia Nusantara University and Islamic Finance courses at the Tazkia Institute. Currently, he is a lecturer in the Masters class for Economics of Strategy. Executive courses that have been facilitated include Risk Management in Excel, Operational Risk Management for Banks (organized by the Risk Management Association, RMA based in Philadelphia USA), Credit Risk Modeling, and Risk Analysis in Infrastructure Projects. In addition, Rahmat has also participated in certified training, including Advanced Company Valuation from Euromoney Singapore and Advanced Financial Modeling from Ethan Hataway Hong Kong.
